Following the successfully completed first cycle of sampling conducted during the summer months, the Serbian and Romanian expert teams within the IPA project Environmental Risk Assessment from Mining Activities as a Result of Tailings Storage in the Cross-Border Area Romania–Serbia have begun the second, autumn phase of field activities.
During this cycle, surface water, soil, and sediment are being sampled at locations potentially affected by mining activities in the cross-border region of Serbia and Romania. The collected samples will enable a comparison between the summer and autumn results and provide a clearer insight into seasonal variations, as well as their potential impact on the environment and public health.
This approach ensures a more comprehensive risk assessment and contributes to defining effective protection measures at the regional level.
